Pamela Anderson

Know her from: T.V. shows like Home Improvement, Baywatch, V.I.P., Stacked, and Dancing with the Stars; PETA ads and celebrity websites/magazines, Playboy magazine, ex-wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, various music videos; kind of just from being her...

Why she's vegan: Definitely for animal welfare, first and foremost, but also for health. The story is that she saw an animal her father had hunted and killed, and it changed her mind about eating animals. A teenager at the time, Pam indicated that seeing the animal "dressed" turned her off from eating meat immediately. However, once Ms. Anderson became an activist, she campaigned mightily against the fur trade, posing for memorable ads which stated "I'd rather go naked than wear fur." Pam has used her famous physique and star status for many pro-animal-welfare campaigns since then, recently to end the killing of seals in her native Canada.

Why she's awesome: Pam has been ad advocate of the vegetarian, and now vegan, lifestyle, for decades. She's been a spokeswoman for PETA since long before it was cool. From speaking out against the slaughter of horses, to the fervent request for pet owners to spay and neuter, Pam has been a force to be reckoned with in raising global awareness of animal issues. In the past, she's partnered with cruelty-free make-up company e.l.f. Cosmetics, creating her own branded line of lip glosses and other products. More recently, she made an appearance at L.A.-based company Millions of Milkshakes, promoting the first all-vegan version milkshake on their menu. In addition to cruelty-free product creation and promotion, Pam has actually helped PETA change laws that hurt animals around the world, and she continues to do so.

Pam decided to harness all of the attention she was getting for a cause that was important to her, so she's a true general in the Hot Vegan Army. Ms. Anderson proves that not only can you be incredibly fit on a vegan diet, but you can be glam and sexy too, and still stay cruelty-free. After all, not just anyone gets to be immortalized in the Guinness Book of Records as the most downloaded star of all time.

Hat's off to you Pam. We salute you.
